The Fire Swim is all about raising money for worthy causes, and having some fun along the way!
The money raised each year is divided, with 50% going towards The Fire Fighters Charity, and 50% being divided equally between local Charities and worthy causes.
Over the years we’ve supported a whole range of organizations and individuals. In some instances we’ve been able to purchase specific pieces of equipment or essential items, whilst in others we’ve been able to contribute towards the purchase of much bigger items. Some examples of past beneficiaries are shown below.
If you belong to a charitable organisation, a group that needs funding for a worthwhile purpose or are an Individual who has a specific need, then please get in touch.
You need to let us know the name, address and contact telephone number of your Organisation/Charity (or yourself if you are an Individual) together with some background information relating to the Organisation/Charity.
You also need to detail the reason for your request e.g. to purchase/replace equipment, help towards the cost of an outing etc. and you’ll be put forward for consideration. Please bear in mind though, that we don’t contribute towards every day running costs e.g. salaries, phone bills, printing etc.
Requests should be submitted in writing to the Chairman Steve Kerridge, and before 31st December. Successful applicants will then be invited to the Presentation Night in the Spring.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides support to fire service personnel, both serving and retired, and their families. Some of the essential services they provide are rehabilitation and therapy, recuperative facilities, sheltered housing & retirement homes and beneficiary support. All of which help at times when it is most needed.
Acorn Village are amongst our regular recipients. The organisation supports people with learning disabilities, providing encouragement and access to opportunities in the local community with the aim of making everyday life fulfilling and interesting.
In the past we have contributed towards such things as curtains for one of the purpose built bungalows, refurbishing of accommodation and towards household items and furnishings for some of the properties.
Headway Essex provides information, support and services for people with acquired brain injury, their families, carers and interested professionals, across the county of Essex.
We’ve been able to support them previously, with one instance being to provide assistance towards the cost of trampolining sessions which, whilst not only being fun, helps to strengthen muscles, build up the cardio-vascular system, improve co-ordination and self-esteem.
Everyone knows the Guide and Scout Organisations and we’re pleased that we’re able to support our local brances.
In the past we’ve helped provide craft items and camping equipment, from tents and stoves to pots, pans and beds. The variety is endless!
